I Wonder how to find lodgings using the 88 Route Guide (after having reserved in advance). The guide book shows only the name (The Family name?) and the phone number, but no adress, and the map is not that accurate, that you easily find the place? Do you just ask people on the way how to find the exact place of the lodgings, or are there good signs to tell you where the lodgings are, or is it possible on Shikoku to buy more detailed maps where the lodgings also are mapped?

Believe it or not, the maps are accurate enough to find the lodging and other locations listed. The maps may not be as detailed as you want, but the are more than accurate enough.
The lodging names are not family names, just establishment names. They are usually right on the side of the road, but in any case there are always signs. So as you approach where it seems to be on the map, just keep your eyes open for the sign or the building itself.
And, as you suggest, as you get closer, you can ask people on the street and they can point you in the right direction. But, usually you won't need to do that.

In most of the lodgings where we have been, if the map was not clear enough, it was sufficient to ask anybody around there by just telling the name, and they gave us directions or even walked us there.
