    Emon Saburo

Most people interested in the henro know the story of Emon Saburo. If not, you can read it on the website. In addition, i mention him in another "sight to see" when i talk about the stone that the Daishi placed in his hand when he died and is now on display in a museum at Ishiteji.

What i never mentioned is that you should be sure to look for the statue of him on your way down the mountain after leaving Shosanji (Temple 12). It's not very far down from the temple and is on the left side of the main road as you walk downhill. The statue shows Emon sitting down, maybe breathing his last breaths, with the Daishi standing over him offering offering his forgivness and blessings.

A picture of the statue is one of the pictures that rotates through the very top of the main page of the website each time you reload it.
